Tis the season to be gardening fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, LA!  

I look like Spring is coming early this year! One way to save money while being on a budget is to have a vegetable garden.  This helps you spend less on produce during the summer and fall but if you plan you can enjoy your harvest even during the winter months.  To start, make a list, before you start planting for the summer, of the vegetables that you and your family will eat as well as produce that can be frozen. By freezing some of your produce it will cut down on what you are buying at the grocery store in the colder months.  

If a garden is beyond your time or expertise you are not out of luck!  Visit your Farmer’s Markets or grocery store.  Know what’s in season and stock up!

Berry Blast Smoothiesmoothie

1 cup coconut milk
½ fresh or frozen mixed berries
1 tbsp chia seed
1 tbsp flax seed
1 Banana

  1. Place all ingredients in the blender and mix until smooth.
  2. Pour into glass and enjoy!!
