Glitter, no other word, when associated with makeup, can receive two vastly different responses. Women either love it or loathe it without many falling in the middle. One of the largest misconceptions with glitter is that you’re too old to wear it. Anyone…yes ANYONE can wear glitter and look fabulous. It’s all about the type you choose and how you wear it.
One of the easiest ways to incorporate glitter, especially this holiday season, is on the eyes. It can add a much needed pop of something extra that takes a cute eye look to a stunning one. Yet not all glitter eye shadows are made a like and if you’re not careful it can quickly turn into a glitter nightmare.
For the eyes one of my favorite shadows is by the brand Colorpop. Their super shock shadows are different from anything else you’ve used. They’re not a cream or a powder or a mousse but a hybrid of all three. It can be intimidating applying it at first but once you set your brushes aside and just use what God gave you (your fingers) it’s easy.
The color I am loving this holiday season is Hammered. It is an olive green with gold flecks of glitter. It is gorgeous when applied to the eyelid. For me, I prefer to wear this with a light peach shade as a base, followed by a light brown shadow in my crease. I then apply the colorpop shadow with my fingers all over my lid. To soften the line I run a fluffy brush back and forth over my crease to diffuse the olive color a little. That’s it! It makes for an easy, fun and stunning eye look that is perfect for the holidays.
If you’ve stayed away from glitter I suggest you give it a try this holiday season. If you’re still unsure of how you can wear glitter let me know in the comments below and I’d be happy to help you add a little glitz to your eyes!
