I think if I had to choose a favorite within makeup it would be eyeshadow (shh don’t tell the rest though because it’s like a parent picking their favorite child). Eyeshadow can change the way makeup looks. The same colors can go from dainty & sweet to sexy & sultry to dramatic & wild with a change of application. Here are my top 10 favorite shades (and why I love them) in no particular order.
Supple by Karity. This is a satin shadow that has a sheen to it. It’s pink with a hint of
golden peach. I love this for the inner part of my lid or to pop in the center of the lid to make the eye appear larger.
Porcelain by Morphe. This is a matte pure white eyeshadow. This is perfect for highlighting under the brow bone.
Peach Smooth by Makeup Geek. This is a matte peachy beige shadow. This is a great transition color for warmer eye looks.
Super Freak by Karity. This is a matte soft beige shadow. I use this to deepen my crease in a smoky eye or to build up the color on the outer V of my eyelid.
Chickadee by Makeup Geek. This is a matte orange shadow with yellow in it. This is amazing in the crease to help with the transition for a warm smoky eye. Don’t let the color of this one scare you off it’s amazing!
Glisten by Anastasia of Beverly Hills. This is a metallic shadow that has a ton of shimmer/sheen. The color is a pinky beige. This shadow is amazing dry but when applied wet (using a setting spray) it is something spectacular. I love this for all over the lid with a heavy black winged liner or on the inner corner of the eye as a highlight.
Coppering by MAC. This is a frosty metallic shadow that has a copper/red/orange color. I absolutely love this shadow in the summer worn on the outer V of my eye for a warm smoky eye.
Brownstone by Karity. This is a velvet grey taupe shadow with purple undertones. This is perfect when you want a dark outer V of your eye but black would look too harsh.
Fetish by Karity. This is a deep blue frosted shadow. A woman can’t live on neutral alone! This is amazing as a pop of color on the lower lash line.
Corrupt by Makeup Geek. This is a matte black shadow. This shadow is intense! I’ve yet to find a shadow that is as dark and saturated as this this one. I don’t use it often as a shadow but I love using it in place of eye liner for a softer eye look.
Ultimately the best shadows are the ones you feel the most confident in. As you can see I tend to lean towards warmer shadows on a daily basis. I personally love these individual pan shadows because I can buy what I know I’ll use instead of having an eyeshadow palette that has 10 shades and I really only use two of them. Lastly, great shadows don’t have to be expensive, these range from $2.29-$12. Play around, find what you love and remember it’s just makeup…so have fun!
