Let’s talk about where I shop to get these affordable pieces of ‘art’ that I hang on my body. To be honest, if you don’t know where to look when you begin your budget shopping then you’ll end up falling back into the pattern of spending $50 on a white t-shirt. Here are my top three stores that I frequent when I want to update my wardrobe but not spend an arm and a leg.
1. TJ Maxx – I won’t lie. When I was a kid, my mom used to drag me into this store kicking and screaming because I thought it was so boring and the clothes were ‘old-ladyish.’ Boy, did I eat my words. You can’t keep me out of this store now. The great thing about TJ Maxx is that you can find basically everything affordable – tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear, underwear, sleepwear, shoes, purses, makeup, hair products – you name it! TJ Maxx is often hit or miss though, so you have to go in knowing that you may or may not find something that day.
2. Forever 21 – Some of you may be thinking, “Yeah, but isn’t this a store for twenty-somethings or younger?” No. Absolutely not. There are always pieces that you can find that fit your age and your body type. Their clothing is so versatile and they have plenty of the basics. Forever 21 is also the only place that I will purchase jewelry. Yes, it may break in 6 months but hey, I only paid $5 for that necklace. This Eiffel tower sweatshirt that I’m rocking? Only paid $19 for at Forever 21.
3. Old Navy – LOVE THIS PLACE. Again, sometimes it’s hit or miss depending on the season, but I almost always can find something I love. Their jeans fit me perfectly and you can score the perfect deal if you shop their sale section right. They also hand out ‘Super Cash’ where when you spend a certain amount, they give you back a certain amount. For example, spend $20 and take $10 off. Stock up, people. I’m telling you it’s worth it.
Don’t get discouraged if you go into these stores and don’t find something that suits you at the right price. Keep searching! Make sure to shop the sales and come back another day if you just feel like you don’t see anything you like. Clothing stores get new stuff all the time.
Have fun shopping!
